About

I’ve always been fascinated by patterns, repetition, details, and order. Much of my work is focused on the balance between order and chaos, and I enjoy the challenge of balancing organic forms against more geometric designs. My work explores visual balance through composition, contrast, patterns, shapes, and colors. Embroidery in particular has great potential for both meticulous precision and detail, as well as the human imperfections that make handmade objects beautiful.

About the Artist

Grace Young is an embroidery artist residing in Naples, Florida. She is currently a 3D Studies major at Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina. She initially studied Graphic Design, and although it has an influence on her work today, she decided to switch to 3D studies after being drawn to ceramics in her sophomore year.  Later, she shifted her focus to embroidery after incorporating it into a sculpture project and realizing its potential as an art medium. Grace is highly detail-driven in her work. She is inspired by the intricate rhythm and patterns of the natural environment, as well as everyday objects.  Having a keen eye for unseen beauty, she is often inspired by structures and rhythms that many of us pass by every day and take no notice.
